Enjoy a private cooking class at a Florentine signora's beautiful home located in the outskirt of Florence. The house was built in the 11th century as a lookout tower. Later, it became the residence of Francesco Granacci, a successful painter in the 16th century and one of Michelangelo’s close friends, and for this reason it was named “Casa del Pittore” (Painter’s house). It’s now a gorgeous renovated stone farmer’s house on a hilltop overlooking Florence.

In this private full day tour you will experience the best of the Western coast of Sicily, an area famous for the Marsala wines, salt and extra-virgin olive oil. Travel through the Salt Way Road, admiring the gorgeous landscape of the Stagnone Lagoon Nature Reserve, a marine area with salt ponds and white windmills and discover how the salt has been harvested up to now. You will stop at a winery to taste some of the sweet and dry fortified Marsala wines (similar to Port and Sherry) and at an Olive Oil Producer for a light lunch based on cheese, cold cuts, olives and bread.

Driving to western part of Sicily from Palermo, the first stop will be the medieval town of Erice, situated 2600 ft above the sea level and surrounded by ancient walls. Two castles make for a spectacular skyline to this town: Pepoli Castle, with foundations dating from Saracen times, and Venus Castle, dating from the Norman era but built on ruins of the ancient Temple of Venus. You will attend a cooking class in a lovely family run restaurant with a beautiful panoramic terrace just above Monterosso. Your Chef will show you how to make the most famous recipes from this beautiful region including the traditional pesto sauce, hand-made pasta, vegetable pie and focaccia. Embark on a fascinating hunting experience to the outskirts of Chianti to “dig out” some amazing natural treasures- Tuscan Truffles. The truffle hunt will take place at the site where the famous battle of Monteaperti took place in 1260. Here you will learn all the secrets to the Tuscan Truffles including: their characteristics, properties, differences, and how to store and use them. This hunting experience will take place with an Expert Truffle Hunter and his wonderful dogs. The “Lagotto” (the special dog breed), makes truffle hunting possible.

Traveling through the hills of Crete Senesi and along the northern shore of Lake Trasimeno, you will discover the ancient cities of Perugia and Assisi. Upon arriving in Perugia, you will cross ancient archaeological finds and the brick vaults of the Rocca Paolina (a fortress constructed in the mid-16th century), then travel up to the Carducci Gardens- located in the heart of the city which houses a beautiful balcony overlooking the entire valley.

Traveling through the hills of Crete Senesi, just around an hour from Siena, you will discover the ancient cities of Arezzo and Cortona. On this full day tour, you will first stop in Arezzo (a city of ancient Etruscan origins) known for its marvelous works of art by Piero Della Francesca and Cimabue along with their great antiquarian traditions.
