Private Tour - Arezzo & Cortona - Excursion from Siena

Availability: Daily

Duration: 9 hours

Traveling through the hills of Crete Senesi, just around an hour from Siena, you will discover the ancient cities of Arezzo and Cortona. On this full day tour, you will first stop in Arezzo (a city of ancient Etruscan origins) known for its marvelous works of art by Piero Della Francesca and Cimabue along with their great antiquarian traditions. You will also have the chance to see the sets of the Oscar-winning movie, La Vita e’ Bella by Roberto Benigni including the Basillica of San Francesco and Piazza Grande, and wander through the gorgeous antique shops and boutiques. Lastly you will arrive at the medieval Church of San Domenico-which houses the amazing crucifix of Cimabue. Then, stop for lunch in a quaint traditional restaurant in this historical city.

After lunch, you will travel around 30 minutes through the picturesque Val Di Chiana to reach the ancient city of Cortona, which dominates the entire valley. First stop in this city is the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita, located on the highest point of the village and surrounded by magnificent views. Making your way down to the city center, you will stop in the gorgeous Eremo delle Celle. This convent was built by St. Francis in the 13th century on a rock overlooking the creek. Upon arriving in the main square, admire the historical Town Hall and Clock Tower. Here you will have the chance to shop and take breathtaking pictures. On your return to Siena, a stop will be made at a winery near Montepulciano. Here you will have a guided visit of the winery and enjoy a tasting of 3 delicious wines.

Exact time will be provided in final documents. Pick up at your hotel.
