Golf at Royal Golf La Bagnaia
Royal Golf La Bagnaia is an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course is situated among rolling hills near Siena, with views of the medieval city of Siena from every hole. Reaching the course is a marvelous drive itself, surrounded by the unique and charming beauties of the Tuscan countryside. La Bagnaia is a typical inland links built on 130 hectares of land. The layout gently follows the rolling hills of the property, with undulating and ample fairways delimited by punitive native rough, change of elevations, and large greens. Ninety bunkers are strategically positioned on the fairways and in protection of the greens. Four lakes come into play on four holes. Although challenging, the course is enjoyable even for the less skilled players.
Golf at Montecatini Golf Club
Day of Golfing at Montecatini Golf Club.
Transfer to Florence
Short transfer to Florence. Maybe a stop enroute in Siena, or an afternoon in Florence.
Golf at Le Pavoniere Golf Club
Le Pavoniere’s 18 holes are on a gently undulating plain that includes water hazards, oaks, pines and the ever-present cypresses. This Arnold Palmer designed course is relatively flat with water coming into play on no less than 14 holes. An excellent layout that promotes target golf with long par threes, massive fairway bunkers and huge tiered greens. Pavoniere is a great Palmer-American style golf in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The clubhouse is a former Medici hunting lodge.
Golf at Golf Club dell’Ugolino
Ugolino is one of the temples of the century-long history of golf in Italy. All around you is the Tuscan landscape that is quite simply, beautiful. The first nine holes lie on a terrain that bustles with differences in gradient, while the second nine lie on more level ground, though this does not make them any less demanding. Cypress canopies cast enormous shadows over greens perched on the tops and sides of hills; a towering oak tree guards the middle of the seventh fairway. The venerable course winds up and down, with traditional bump-and-run openings to the putting surfaces. The original Firenze Golf Club (established in 1889, it is Italy's oldest golf club) moved to the present site on the narrow and winding Via Chiantigiana in 1933.
Golf at Poggio dei Medici Golf Club
Set among the splendid hills of Mugello, the Poggio Dei Medici Golf Club is a spectacular and entertaining course. Comprised of three groups of 9 holes, each par 36, it offers a variety of decidedly unusual game situations. Lakes, bunkers, streams and trees have been used not only to create technical obstacles but also to form a beautiful visual horizon. Fairways run both up hill and down and the challenge comes in the tight par fives, uphill par fours and elevated par threes. It's a challenging layout, with the ebb and flow of the valley well utilized with a number of long downhill doglegs. The clubhouse is the 15th century Medici villa Cignano.
