From a religious pilgrimage site to a famous film set: come with us across the rolling green hills of Tuscany and Umbria and discover the artistic jewels of Assisi and Cortona.
Assisi, world-renowned as the home of Saint Francis, crowns the spur of a hill overlooking a picturesque valley. An English-speaking guide will lead you through the narrow streets of this medieval town and tell you about its charming history. Inside the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi, you will admire Giotto’s frescos and discover why it is a fundamental pilgrimage site. Next, you will visit the Basilica of Santa Chiara, dedicated to Saint Clare of Assisi, a follower of Saint Francis. After some free time to stroll around, the tour continues with a visit to Santa Maria degli Angeli Church, the birthplace of the Franciscan Order.
Crossing the border back to Tuscany you reach Cortona, a beautiful small town built by the Etruscans and famous for its architectural wonders and amazing views over the surrounding landscape. Cortona is also known internationally for being the set of the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". Here, you will have some free time to walk around on your own.
Meeting point will be at a central location. Details will be provided in final documents.
