Day 4: Tarquina (breakfast)
Say farewell to Roma as we head north via train to the Etruscan town of Tarquinia. Though it won't take long to get there, you'll feel like you've entered a new world. Tarquinia a walled city of the Estruscans, has charming cobble stone streets, and a view of the sea.
You will be met by your driver at the train station and we will begin with a visit to the Necropolis of Monterozzi  showing evidence of the rich Etruscan  life, as celebrated in frescoes painted on Etruscan tombs that attract scholars and tourists from all over the world. The Etruscans are waiting to accompany you to discover their history. A few steps from the beautiful necropolis have known the pleasure of meeting local artisans who will explain the ancient art of ceramics according to the techniques used by the Etruscans. You’ll view our favorite artisan Romolo or his son Michele using the tools of ancient Tarquinia to replicate designs and colors true to the time.
Next you’ll enjoy a tasting of local products and then visit at the National Etruscan Museum. The day ends with a Italian relaxing with a traditional lunch and a swim in the pool at the wonderful Valle de Marte, your home for your stay in Tarquinia. This has been a working farm and vineyard for many years, and under the loving care of two brothers, the farm and the guest quarters are wonderfully welcoming.
Enjoy a delicious tasting of typical products (cutting board with tomato bruschetta  (toasted local bread), bruschetta with high quality organic oil, Italian cold cuts and local cheeses and honey,  water and local wine)
You’ll have free time this afternoon to explore this adorable city.
Overnight at hotel Valle del Marta

Day 5: Tarquinia (breakfast)
Early this morning, you will have a transfer to the excavation site. You will be dressed in appropriate gear to work on the dig site, carefully supervised by the Archeologist from the University. Get ready to get a little dusty!
We’ll try to beat the strong summer heat and be done with this special activity by noon time.
Transfer back to the Agriturismo, and have a wonderful farm house lunch of local products.
The rest of the afternoon to swim in the pool and relax.
Dinner is on your own this evening and you can enjoy the restaurant here, or explore the nearby town.
Overnight at the hotel
Transfer back to the train station in Civitavechcia.

Day 6 : Tarquinia to Cinque Terre  (breakfast)
This morning we will transfer to the train station in Civitavecchia to board your train for  the beautiful Cinque Terre today. We're going to head north just a bit to the magical seaside land of the 5 towns that comprise the Cinque Terre. Get your swim suits and hiking shoes ready - this is going to be a great adventure!
You'll be a train expert after taking two different trains today, first the high speed Eurostar Italia to La Spezia, then a local regional train to Monterosso al Mare (travel time about 3.5 hours), the northern most town of the Cinque Terre, with the best sunning beaches.  You'll feel as if you’ve reached Shangrila, once you arrive.
Take the rest of today to check in to your adorable accomodations here. In the Cinque Terre, there are no big hotels, just smaller properties and guest houses. The lack of cars, and the challenge of getting here,  really keep it a special jewel, not known by many.

Day 7: Cinque Terre
Today will be a great day to work off all those calories from fantastic food in which you've indulged.
You can choose an optional guide to be with you for the day, or do it on your own. It depends on your comfort level and how much walking your party can handle. If you have small children with you or older people who are not so inclined to walk distances, it may be a good idea to have a plan to meet in the next villages by the small local train that stops along each. Let the adventurers take to the hiking path!
You may start with the longest of the walks, along the seaside cliffs, leaving Monterosso behind you. Arriving in the second town, of Vernazzo, this colorful seaside town meets the sea. There is a sand beach, with colorful boats dotting along, and a rocky point where you'll find locals and vacationers sunbathing. Why not take a break here and relax near the sea after your nice walk.
Great food ( trofie pasta with pesto, or local seafood is a must!)  abounds this perfect oasis.
Head for the next town Corniglia by train of foot. Hanging high above the sea, this is the only town without direct water access. The small town is charming and a little walk through the narrow streets will bring you to an amazing look-out point. Get those cameras ready! The gelato is a favorite here ,,,maybe try the cioccolato nero?
Onto the next town of
For the final two towns, you'll definitely want to do this on foot.  Connecting you to Riomaggiore, you will find the utterly charming Lovers Walk. It is a flat, easy leisurely walk along the sea. In times past, this was the only way for lovers of other towns to meet. It is dotted with tons of small and large "locks" to symbolize the locked hearts of the lovers who visit, even today.
You're probobly quite tired by now and will welcome a train ride back to Monterosso.
Enjoy your evening in this Paradise.

Day 8: Departure
Say a sad farewell for now to beautiful Cinque Terre, as you meet your driver and walk to the car park location to head to the airport in Genoa.
