Rome, la città eternale, is a spectacular destination that has the sole aim of giving you a taste of la dolce vita. As you sip a cappuccino and munch on an Italian cornetto, your mood will first relax and then enliven; the evocative flavors may inspire you to consider how you will best enjoy the city. Perhaps a leisurely walk through the glorious ruins of Ancient Rome, an exquisite lunch in the Parco dei Fiori, followed by an extended visit to Vatican City to marvel at its wondrous art? Truly, the choices are as endless as they are delightful; and whatever you do in Rome, you will cherish the resulting memories for a long time to come.

Then after a picturesque train/car ride through Umbria and Tuscany we arrive at our next destination.

In Florence we find not only Italy's finest collection of art, but also a city that in itself is among the country's loveliest examples of artistry. Famous churches and museums, among them the Uffizi Gallery, bejewel the city, each holding the priceless treasures of the Renaissance. But promenading the Florentine streets will present you with magical architecture in graceful dialogue with the nearby Tuscan countryside, and a vibrant people whose mannerisms and language are redolent of Florence's creative spark. As if this weren't enough, local chefs and winemakers dazzle our palates with their own artistry-forged each time they masterfully harness nature's bounty and create one of Italy's finest gastronomies.

Next, on to marvelously unique Venice!

Venice is on another plane of this world altogether. You step out of your quaint hotel and turn a corner into a narrow calle. Eventually you pass what seems to be the most impossibly charming restaurant you could ever have imagined. But though your palate has begun to perk up, you press on until you emerge onto a tiny clearing complemented by a medieval monastery, a burbling fountain, and a few locals casually enjoying the splendor of their town. You walk toward the water, and find yourself in a mood that you have never experienced before this moment, one that makes you want to drink up all of Venice's goodness. Having been enlivened by some delectable Venetian treats during an extended visit to that restaurant that caught your eye earlier, you walk to Piazza San Marco. It is evening, and the gentle cooing of an abundance of pigeons blends imperceptibly with the sweet sounds of a string quartet, the light banter from the surrounding cafés, and visions of the golden Basilica and the Canale Grande shimmering beyond.

Our final destination is the magnificent Milan.

Like all Italians, Milan natives enjoy creamy cappuccinos, Puccini operas, and exquisite wines; but often Milan's work-heavy lifestyle forces its people to put industriousness first and leisure second. But for us as vacationers this is actually a plus, because we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor! The most obvious of these is high fashion, which is always the most cutting-edge on the globe and is sold at prices that you will find very pleasing. Just as important, Milan is blessed with fine art and architecture, both because its artists have contributed a fair amount to Italy's cultural heritage and because Milan's wealthy residents historically have made a habit of purchasing Europe's finest art!

On your flight home from either Malpense or Linnate Airport in Milan, you will muse over your wonderful experience in the Capitals of Northern Italy!
