Not far from Rome, in the Roman hills national park, stands the prestigious Locanda del Pontefice which, from its elevated position, overlooks the summer residence of the Pope, Castelgandolfo lake and the Roman countryside right as far as the sea. The few and exclusive rooms are all different and are decorated with antique furniture.
Within the locanda (inn) is the Osteria del Pontefice, where a traditional dinner will be served with dishes such as: ricotta mousse with asparagus and fava bean pesto, rabbit and roast pork with vegetables, Nemi wild strawberry mousse; the menu varies with the seasons. The cellars offer a selection of the best wines of the region, such as the Casale del Giglio 2008, the Colle Picchioni Perlaia 2008 and the Cannellino Poggio dei Volpi 2003.
